Omologato watches is celebrating Le Mans with a pair of limited edition watches that are specially designed to pay tribute to the oldest and greatest 24 hours endurance race in the world.
The Le Mans Racing Black and the Le Mans Racing Blue both honour the epic annual 24 Heures du Mans race that is arguably the pinnacle of motor sport for many.
Both watches have a bespoke design, with the Le Mans Racing Blue evoking some of the most famous colours in Le Mans history. The white face features white arms, and it has a thick light-blue strip running to the right of the centre. The strip is finished with a dark-blue edged orange line down the middle. The watch features three dials in the middle of the face, with the right hand one displaying a large ‘24’ in recognition of the famous race.
The Le Mans Racing Black honours what is probably the most difficult part of Le Mans – racing at night. It takes a more subtle approach, with a black face and a plain blue stripe running to the right of centre. It is finished by eye-catching orange arms, designed to stand out and be seen with ease by the drivers at night, when their eyes are tired from racing and are regularly blinded by the lights on the other cars and around the track.
Both watches are 45.5mm in diameter, and are made from stainless steel. The Le Mans Racing Blue retains a natural finish, while the Black gets robust, black IP plating. Both come with 22mm black Italian grain leather straps. The Le Mans Racing Blue strap features orange stitching, while the Black has blue and orange stitching.
Omologato founder Shami Kalra said: “The Le Mans 24 hours race is a true landmark in the annual motor racing calendar, and is looked forward to and enjoyed by hundreds of thousands of fans every year, myself included. The drivers face some of the hardest conditions of any race, with the nighttime racing a real highlight for all concerned. I’m delighted that Omologato is able to pay tribute to their feats, and allow fans to celebrate the race year round, with these two watches.”
Both watches are limited to 250 examples each and are both priced at £249. This year’s 24 hours race at Le Mans takes place on 18-19 June.
