Omologato Watches and The Gallery at Ice in Windsor come together this summer to present an exclusive motorsport-inspired exhibition of work by renowned artist Simon Ward, photographer Rob Overy and limited edition watches by Omologato.
Original oil paintings and signed framed photographs by Simon Ward and Rob Overy will be displayed and offered for sale in the UK’s first permanent exhibition of the artists’ works, believed to be the only dedicated motorsport and automotive gallery of paintings and images in Britain.
Simon Ward is a British artist who cut his teeth through the 1980s and 90s following the motorsport circuit around the world and painting what he saw. Now based in the U.S., this exhibition of Simon’s work will be a rare opportunity to see his art in the UK, with most of his works to date residing in private collections and in a permanent exhibition in Sebring, Florida – a circuit close to the artist’s heart.
Rob Overy is a regular at car and race events throughout Europe, and his unique style of capturing the occasion of motorsport and its people has been recognised internationally by a number of media such as the ever popular Petrolicious.com and events such as the Goodwood Revival and Festival of Speed. This is the first time Rob’s work will be exhibited physically, having existed exclusively online, until now.
Some highlights of the paintings and images being displayed include the Simon Ward painting ‘Harbour Duel’ (featuring the iconic dual between Nigel Mansell and Ayrton Senna at Monaco from 1992) and ‘Le Mans 1970 Start’ (featuring the Gulf liveried Porsche 917). Rob Overy has selected an intimate portrait of Sir Jackie Stewart from the Goodwood Revival 2015 and an iconic 1950s Ferrari race car steering wheel from among his favourite photographs being displayed as part of the Omologato Collection.
Omologato Collection curator, Shami Kalra, said: “True motorsport enthusiasts have very few places to visit for a regular fix of rare and original art and memorabilia. This is why, together with the Ice Gallery and Simon and Rob, we came up with the idea of the dedicated Omologato Collection in Windsor. It also allows us to display some new pieces from Omologato in a suitably motorsport inspired environment, and it is where our latest timepiece, the British Racing Green® will be shown in public for the first time in the summer.”
Situated opposite Windsor Castle at number 8 High Street, The Omologato Collection at the Gallery at Ice is a free exhibition and will be open from 10 August 2016.
